Many of you are going to Daniel Benton’s for our Social evening. For those of you who aren’t, please don’t forget that there is no rehearsal this week.

2. Rehearsal Attendance for Bach Concert
We are aware that this half of term is a little ‘bitty’ but agreed that members should miss no more than one reeharsal in the second half of term - 5th November to 3rd December. If you think you might miss more than this then please email Daniel Benton daniel.benton@btinternet.com
3. Wanted - a Keeper of the Registers from January 2027
Jo Pankhurst has done sterling work as the ‘keeper of the registers’ for a few years but now has to reluctantly stand down. So we are looking for a replacement.
It entails putting together a termly register, with some information from Kate S re joiners and leavers; taking said registers to and from rehearsals every week and just filling in absentees at the end of each week.
The only thing I would ask is that you can get to a rehearsal relatively early.

4. AGM 2026 - Thursday 12th November
A little later than usual due to Andy’s trip down under. Please make the effort to come as there is a rehearsal in the first half, followed by wine and bites and then the AGM. This will be Andy’s last. It really is your AGM and gives you a chance to find out plans etc. Sop 1s, it’s your privilege to provide refreshments this year - more will follow.
We are looking for new committee members - more details to follow but if you are interested don’t be shy to come forward and to speak to Daniel Benton, Sarah Jones or Kate Spencer.
5. Roland Completes His Walk for Ukraine - Congratulations!
I’m happy to report that our team completed the walk on Sunday from Stockbridge to Romsey in around five hours. We had good walking weather for the most part, but were accompanied by light rain for the last hour or so. A big thank you to all those who have supported us and made a donation to our fundraiser to buy generators for Ukraine. We are delighted that we have easily exceeded our initial target of £1500 and are now hoping that the final figure will be in excess of £2500, which will be enough to cover the cost of 11 generators to be sent out to Ukraine. This, along with the 7 we had previously funded, means that we are well on target to achieve our goal of sending 25 generators to Ukraine by the end of the year.

6. Choral Course at St Cross 17/18 October - Tenors Needed!
Paul Spicer is running a choral course at St Cross, but is in need of extra tenors - no surprise!
The repertoire is 2 Bach motets, Holst Nunc Dimittis and a piece by Stanford, all for double choir, hence the need for more tenors. Details are on the website (englishchoralexperience.co.uk) . There is a fee, including refreshments, but Paul would consider a special rate (he says!). Paul’s email is paul@paulspicer.com. If any tenors happen to have the weekend free, what could be nicer than singing Bach in St Cross?
