Wayns Weekly 17th June 2025
Please Sell Tickets for the Concert on June 28th
This applies to everyone, whether you are singing or not. Please read this note from Daniel:
Dear all,
Our concert in Chandler's Ford is fast approaching, and as I mentioned at our last rehearsal we have sold very few tickets to date. As you will recall, we originally planned to hold the concert in Winchester, but were let down by the Guildhall, and were lucky to find that Chandlers Ford was available. I'm very keen to fill the church.
The concert should be an easy sell to your chums/supporters - it's a shortish summer concert of lovely and varied music with drinks, nibbles and and a programme included in the very reasonable price. And Chandler's Ford is only 10 mins from Winchester. Please could everyone sell two more tickets - if we could do that, we would have a good crowd. Tickets can be bought via the Wayns public website by clicking on eventbrite
The flyer (click here) can be downloaded for sharing with friends and family, please also share via WhatsApp to suitable groups you are in.
Thanks in advance for your help
Daniel
Hired Music
All music that has been hired this term must be returned by the concert date (28th June) so please ensure that you have done so. Forgetting do so entails a lot of work for Susan Rees (or Sarah Delany) to chase the unreturned music - it can also incur extra costs for the choir.
Thank you
Waynflete Obit - Monday 11th August 2025
It is time to sign up for our regular excursion to Winchester Cathedral to sing Evensong. For new members of the choir this is the day when the death of Bishop Waynflete in 1486 is commemorated at the Cathedral.
Derek Beck will once again conduct us. He has chosen some music familiar to those who regularly sing at this Service, but also canticle settings by George Dyson and an anthem, O be Joyful in the Lord by Harold Rhodes who was Cathedral Organist from 1933-49.
Timing and location:
Rehearsal: Thursday 7th August, 7.30 – 9.30pm at St Cross Church
Final rehearsal: Monday 11th August at 4.00pm in the Choir Stalls, Winchester Cathedral
Evensong: 5.30pm
As usual, after the Service, we will bring our picnic suppers to the Dean Garnier Garden, and sing madrigals until bad light stops play.
I will be bringing sign-up sheets to the two rehearsals before our June concert but if you can tell me now that you can sing at the Obit please let me know: pramjungle@hotmail.com
