Wayns weekly 10th November-
Important concert day information from our concert manager, Veronica Shaw:
Rehearsal
Our rehearsal on 6th December is 1-4pm. We would all prefer this to be later, but the cathedral insist on this timing.
Please be aware that parking in Winchester at this time of year is particularly difficult so take this into account when planning your journey.
We are aiming to mix up voice parts for this concert, but will ensure that no one is too far away from someone else in their part (this applies in particular to the tenors as there are fewer of them than other parts)
Please arrive any time from 12.30pm and be in your seats by 12.50 so we can start promptly at 1pm.
When you take your seats for the rehearsal please be open to moving if you are blocking someone else's line of vision, particularly as inevitably some men will be in front of women.
If anyone has any special requirements, please let Veronica know. (email below)
Concert
We will be wearing all black as usual, but with our gold scarves and handkerchiefs. These are available from Sarah Jones (S2)
We will be using folders. These are available from Miranda Austin (S2)
Attendance
Please let your part rep know as soon as possible if you are NOT able to sing in this concert. It makes the seating plan much easier to organise if we have accurate numbers. It is really helpful if you could mark the register as NS (not singing) if you are unable to sing. We appreciate that people might have to drop out at the last minute, but the more notice we have the better.
Further details about the concert day will be shared, as usual, at the final rehearsal. Meanwhile if you have any questions you can send them to Veronica at veronica.kshaw@gmail.com
Gold Scarves and handkerchiefs - a message from Sarah Jones
I am putting in the order for the gold scarves this week, and hope to have them by Thursday. Gold handkerchiefs are already in stock for the men. Payment is via the Wayns card machine or online (£7.00 for scarves and £5.00 for handkerchiefs).
More on Gerontius
I imagine that quite a few of us will already have enjoyed the wonderful film The Choral (though perhaps not Ralph Fiennes’ conducting!) with its storyline centred around a performance of The Dream of Gerontius. This presents a marvellous marketing opportunity for us. If you have friends and family who have been to see the film, you might wish to share with them the flyer for next term, which can easily be found in the flyers section of the members’ page. Public booking won’t be open till late January but of course we shall have choir priority booking open before then.
